The More You Dig. The More You Find.

Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon, today. Job, chapter 34,. Today's title is Everything Exists for God. Everything Exists for God. We're going to have a great time today and we're going to look at chapter 34, verse 14, where it talks about how God allows everything to be. Before I do that, I want to make a quick apology on yesterday's podcast and YouTube video. It cut off toward the end and I wasn't able to get the rest of it there, so I know it kind of was a little jarring and so I'm sorry. I was pretty much done anyway, so I hope that you'll forgive me and I am excited to be back today. So if you have your Bibles, I want to open it up with me to Job, chapter 34. And while you're doing that, I want to make sure and tell everybody thank you so much for joining us. If you'd like to help us out here, make sure you like, share and subscribe to YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure you leave us a five-star review on the podcast and join us at the Bible Breakdown Discussion on Facebook. I'm going to tell you something the more we dig, the more we find, and it is an honor to read those devotions that that wonderful team does every single day. They do such a wonderful job and they help us dig more deeply into God's Word.

Speaker 1:

Well, if you've got your Bibles ready, in Job chapter 34, remember, the overall theme of Job is trusting God's wisdom in suffering. Job has been talking with his three friends and they finally have just come to the realization Job really thinks he's innocent on this one, and so they have nothing to say. So this young guy named Elihu he's now speaking up, and this young fella thinks he knows better. And so in the last chapter he's really just saying Job, if you'll just be quiet, I'll teach you a few things. And for some of you who are a little older, you just kind of shake your head and go yeah, been around some of them, but then also some of us who were younger and I put myself in that category. It's also a great lesson for us that a lot of times we think we know, but should we say it and should we say it now? The only way we learn that is through situations like this, where we have to experience a few things and also what's kind of crazy is. As we're going to see today, elihu has some true things to say, but knowledge without wisdom is just noise. Wisdom is when we add understanding. Knowledge plus experience equals wisdom, and so, in the grand scheme of things, elihu is in the process of learning that just because I know something doesn't mean I should say something, and so we're going to read what he has to say today and actually pull out a really true statement that he says. That I think could bring us some encouragement today. So, if you're ready, job, chapter 34, verse 1, says this. Then Elihu said Listen to me, you wise men, and pay attention, you who have knowledge.

Speaker 1:

Job said the ear tests the words it hears, just as the mouth distinguishes between foods. So let us discern for ourselves what is right, let us learn together what is good For. Job also said I am innocent, but God has taken away my rights. I am innocent, but they call me a liar. My suffering is incurable, though I have not sinned.

Speaker 1:

Tell me, has there ever been a man like Job? With his thirst for irrelevant talk? He chooses evil people as companions. He spends his time with wicked men. Has he ever? Has he even said why waste time trying to please God? Listen to me, for you who have understanding, everyone knows that God doesn't sin. The Almighty can do no wrong. He repays people according to their deeds and he treats people as they deserve. Truly, god will not do wrong. The Almighty will not twist justice. Did someone else put the world in His care? Who set the world in its place?

Speaker 1:

I love this verse in verse 14 that says If God were to take back his spirit and withdraw his breath, all life would cease and humanity would turn again to dust. Now listen to me. If you are wise, pay attention to what I say. Could God govern if he hated justice? Are you going to condemn the almighty judge? For he says to kings you are wicked, and to nobles you are unjust. He doesn't care how great a person may be and he pays no more attention to the rich man than to the poor. He has made them all. In a moment they die and in the middle of the night they pass away. The mighty are removed without a human hand, for God watches how people live and he sees everything they do. No darkness is thick enough to hide the wicked from his eyes. We don't set the time and when we will come before God in judgment. He brings the mighty to ruin without asking anyone and he sets up others in their place. He knows what they do and in the night he overturns and destroys them. He strikes them down because they are wicked, doing it openly, for all to see, for they turned away from following him. They have no respect for any of his ways. They cause the poor to cry out, catching God's attention. He hears the cries of the needy, but if he chooses to remain quiet, who can criticize him? When he hides his face, no one can find him, whether an individual or a nation. He prevents the godless from ruling, so they cannot be a snare to the people. Why don't people say to God I have sinned, but I will sin no more, or I don't know what evil I have done. So tell me If I have done wrong, I will stop. At once Must God tailor his justice to your demands, but you have rejected him. Your choice is yours, not mine. Go ahead and share your wisdom with us. After all, bright people will tell me and wise people will hear me say Job speaks out of ignorance. His words lack insight. Job, you deserve the maximum penalty for the wicked way you have. Wow, elihu is very blunt, but he says a few things here that are really true, that I think that maybe we could take with us and that could be an encouragement to us. I love verse 14 that says this and this is, I hope, a great encouragement for everyone who you would say you're dealing with a hard time, you're going through suffering and you're trying to trust God's wisdom, but it hurts, and it's okay to say it hurts, it's okay to say it doesn't understand, you don't understand. Verse 14 says this if God were to take back his spirit and withdraw his breath, all life would cease and humanity would turn again to dust. The reason why I love that is because that reminds me that the reason why you are here, the reason why I am here, is because God willed it to be. Everything exists for God. Everything is here because he willed it to be. No one is here by accident. No one is listening to this podcast or watching it by accident. No one was born. And then God said wow, I should really figure out what to do with you. There was never a moment where God was unsure or uncertain or concerned or didn't quite know what to do. God knows. Everything exists for God.

Speaker 1:

In the book of Acts, paul says we all live by him and for him, and we are here for his good pleasure. You are here because God wants you to be, and that's an encouraging thought that he thought you were worth creating. That's how much God loves you. And if that God loves you that much, then, even when you don't understand, he's worthy of being trusted. He's worthy of going.

Speaker 1:

God, I don't understand what's going on. I don't understand why you're doing what you're doing, but I trust you. I trust that anyone who would love me that much that he wanted me to be is trustworthy, and so that's my hope for you today. Is there going to be seasons that we don't understand? There's going to be moments of difficulty, but in the moments of difficulty we still say God, I trust you because you love me enough to make me. Therefore, you have a purpose for my life.

Speaker 1:

The Bible says in Philippians 1, verse 6,. It says I can be confident that he who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. That also means God didn't make you and then try to figure out what to do with you, but when he made you, he had a plan for your life. I hope that's an encouragement to you today. God. Thank you so much for today. Thank you, god, that you are with us and that you are for us. I'm thankful, god, that you are showing us your glory in so many different ways. I pray, lord, today, that you will help us to open our eyes to see that you are with us and you're for us in more ways than we can imagine. We thank you in advance for all you're doing and all you're going to show us. In Jesus' name, we pray amen and amen. What God's Word says.

Speaker 1:

After Job lost everything, he said in Job 121, I came naked from my mother's womb. I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had and the Lord has taken it away. But praise the name of the Lord. Oh, I love you. I'll see you tomorrow. For Job, chapter 35.
