The More You Dig. The More You Find.

Speaker 1:

Hello everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon. Today, job, chapter 42, the grand finale. Come on, job, it's about to get real up in here and the title of today's chapter is that Romans 8, 28 life. That Romans 8, 28 life. It's going to get real and I cannot wait. If you've never read the book of Job, this is going to be amazing. This is going to be absolutely amazing. So here we go, we're going to jump into this, but before we do, as always, if you like what we're doing here, make sure that you like share, subscribe to YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure that you're also going to the Facebook group Bible Breakdown Discussion. The more we dig, the more we find. I cannot wait to get into this final chapter.

Speaker 1:

Do you ever have one of those moments when you're watching a movie and the hero of the movie man, they've lost so much stuff and then they go through this arc of redemption or whatever, and then they leave and you're like I mean that's great and all but boy, I wish they'd have gotten more for their trouble. I mean it's like they ended up like okay, but man, I kind of felt bad for them, I was over with. Well, here's when God fixes stuff. He fixes stuff. I mean, it's amazing. So we're going to jump into this. And there's another little thing. I can't help it. I love to. Just a little thing. Maybe you'll see it, we'll stop and we'll talk about it when we get there. But if you're ready, get your Bibles open with me to Job, chapter 42. Let's dive into this together. Job's finally going to reply to the Lord. Here we go, verse one.

Speaker 1:

Then Job replied to the Lord I know that you can do anything and no one can stop you. You asked this. The question is my wisdom with such ignorance? It is I, and I was talking about things. I knew nothing about things, far too wonderful for me. You said listen and I will speak. I have some questions for you and you must answer them. I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes and I take back everything I said and I sit in the dust and ashes to show my repentance. Now pause for a moment. What an amazing answer. He said God, I didn't know. And now that I see that you've been with me this whole time, now that I see how great you are, I have no excuse. I had only heard about you before. Now I see it with my own eyes and he says I take back everything I said. I sit in the dust and I just I'm sorry. I'm sorry when I truly saw what you were up to. I'm so sorry and I just want to pause right there. I guarantee you that if God were to pull back the curtain and show you because, remember, the overall theme of Job has been trusting God's wisdom in suffering I guarantee you that if God were to pull back the curtain and let you see all the things he kept you from and all the things he has been keeping you for, we'd be just like Job. I heard about your goodness, but now I see it with my own two eyes. Wow, that's all I can say. I'm so sorry and wow, that's amazing.

Speaker 1:

Let's finish up Verse seven. After the Lord finished speaking to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite I am angry with you, you and the two friends, for you have not spoken accurately about me as my servant Job has. So take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you and I will accept his prayer on your behalf. I will not treat you as you deserve. So pause again. How about that? At the end of it, job has to pray for his friends. Oh, sour grapes eating some crow, all the things right. Verse 10,. I love this, let's finish this up.

Speaker 1:

When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before. Then all his brothers, sisters and former friends came and feasted with him in his home and they consoled him and comforted him because of all the trials the Lord had brought against him, and each of them brought him a gift of money and a gold ring. So the Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning, for now he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 teams of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys. He also gave Job seven more sons and three more daughters, and he named the first daughter Jemiah, the second Keziah and the third Kenneth, the Kuppah and all the land. No women were as lovely as the daughters of Job, and their father put them into his will along with their brothers. He lived 140 years after that, living to see four generations of his children and grandchildren. Then he died, an old man who had lived a long, full life. Wow, in the end, god blessed him more than he could have imagined.

Speaker 1:

That's that, romans 8.28 life. If you don't know that verse, romans 8.28 says that all things, all things, that's capital A, capital L, capital L All things work together to the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Now, as we get ready to end our time together, remember one more time the overall theme of Job is trusting God's wisdom in suffering, and this is what I would love to tell you. I would love to tell you that you're never going to have a problem. I'd love to tell you that you're never going to have a problem. I'd love to tell you that you're never going to have to face consequences for bad decisions. Or I'd love to tell you that you're not going to have bad things happen to you when you did nothing to bring it on right. I wish I could tell you that, but the reality is there's going to be times in our life when bad things will happen to good people. Now don't let anybody say that if you just say enough that you know whatever, that's not how that works. Okay, you can say all you want to, whatever, but the reality of it is, jesus made us a promise. He said in this life you will have trouble, and so there will be times bad things are going to happen. There's going to be times when we're going to have to reap the consequences of our bad decisions. And there's going to be times when you did nothing wrong of our bad decisions. And there's going to be times when you did nothing wrong but bad comes and knocks on your door. But here's the amazing thing God is more than able.

Speaker 1:

Remember the past several chapters where God kept telling Job Job. You don't understand. I have got all of this in my hands. None of this escapes me. As a matter of fact, the Bible says Jesus said in Matthew. He says consider the lilies of the field. They neither toil nor spin. But not even Solomon and all of his splendor was arrayed like one of these flowers. And he said if God so cares for the lilies of the field that are in the field today. And but not even Solomon and all of his splendor was arrayed like one of these flowers. And he said if God so cares for the lilies of the field that are in the field today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, how much more will he care for you? So, therefore, you seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. I think that God's word would be that for us today, that we can realize that, no matter what we go through, no matter what happens in our life, god's got us, and that Romans 8, 28 life is that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.

Speaker 1:

It reminds me of one of my favorite stories in the Old Testament. There was a guy named Joseph, and Joseph had a dream that one day he was going to be the leader of his family and that one day he was going to be the leader of a nation. Now, he didn't quite know that's what the dream meant, but he knew he was going to be something great. He made the mistake of telling his family, and he had some brothers who didn't agree with him, and so they tried to kill him. They sold him into slavery, sold him into Egyptian slavery, and while he was in Egyptian slavery he started working for a guy named Potiphar, and he's a slave not where he wanted to be not the dream he originally had. But he's a slave, not where he wanted to be, not the dream he originally had, but he's making the best of it. And while he is a slave in the house of Potiphar, potiphar's wife tries to seduce him. Well, he doesn't want to disgrace his master like that, so he goes running out. Well, then the wife accuses Joseph of trying to rape her, which was not true. Well, potiphar is going to believe his wife. So he throws this innocent man into jail and he possibly spent up to 14 years in jail for something he didn't do. But while he is there, two of Pharaoh's main guys are there and one of them has a dream. And Joseph interprets the dream and he says when you get out, tell Pharaoh about me, don't leave me in here. Well, he forgets about him and he stays in jail a lot longer, never do anything wrong. But then Pharaoh has a dream and because the guy remembered Joseph could interpret dreams, he tells Pharaoh.

Speaker 1:

Pharaoh gets the interpretation of the dream from Joseph and he ends up putting Joseph in charge of the kingdom. He wakes up in a prison, goes to bed that night in a palace and one day, after everything happens that's going to happen. Joseph ends up saving his entire family. And when his family comes and they try to apologize for selling him into slavery a long time ago, you know what he says no, no, what you meant for evil him into slavery a long time ago. You know what he says no, no, what you meant for evil, god meant for good, for the saving of our family and for all of these.

Speaker 1:

It's almost like Joseph says you know what? I am so thankful that you guys were mean to me and you sold me to slavery. Thank goodness for slavery, because if I hadn't have been a slave, I couldn't have got lied on by Potiphar's wife. Thank goodness for Potiphar's loud mouth, because if she had a light on me, I wouldn't have got thrown into prison. Thank goodness for prison. If I hadn't have been in prison, I wouldn't have met Pharaoh's cupbearer. Thank goodness for the cupbearer, because if the cupbearer hadn't have told Pharaoh about me, I wouldn't have got out of prison. Thank goodness for Pharaoh, because now I'm able to do everything. I had to go through those things because they were all stepping stones to get me where I need to be. I'm not saying that you're going to be thankful for some of the difficult things that's been going on in your life. What I am saying is in the future, I truly believe you'll look back and you'll go. You know what? Thank you, god, that you were with me the whole way, because if I hadn't started there, I wouldn't have got to where I am now.

Speaker 1:

We can trust in the Lord, just like Job. Let's pray together, god. Thank you so much. You are with us more than we can imagine, lord, as we've walked through the book of Job. What an amazing lesson about trusting you through some of the darkest things. And, god, we don't minimize the things that we go through. We don't minimize the pain and the hurt that we feel. What we will do, though, is we will maximize our trust in you, knowing that you are with us in more ways than we can imagine. We're thankful for you today. In Jesus' name, we pray Amen, amen. What God's Word says.

Speaker 1:

When all this began, it's almost like Job knew, even though he didn't, because when he lost it all, the Bible said he fell to his face Job 121,. He said I came naked from my mother's womb. I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away, but praise the name of the Lord. Wow, what an amazing legacy that we can all share as well. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow for the New Testament book of Philemon.
