Well, everyone, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon, today, Ecclesiastes, chapter 3, and today's title is Everything is Beautiful in Its Way. Everything is beautiful in its way. One of the things I love about going to museums and different things is that I love seeing what other people think of as artwork. And what I mean by that is, since I'm not an artist, it all looks amazing and hard to me, right. But when I look and I go and I first think of what I think of as art, I enjoy seeing these beautiful paintings. But then you go and you look at these abstract things and it blows my mind a lot of times what beauty there is, especially if I take someone with me who can explain to me what went into making that piece of artwork. Like if you realize you know the type of brush, strokes and this kind of stuff, you go, wow, there's beauty in what I thought of as a mess, like I didn't see it for what it is. And I love that idea when it comes to the people of God, because sometimes we can look at people, we can look at seasons, we can look at difficult moments, but if we see them through the eyes of God, we can see that everything is beautiful in its own way, in its own season, and that's what the preacher, solomon, is going to say to us today. If you have your Bibles, open up with me to Ecclesiastes, chapter three, remember. This is written by Solomon and he's calling himself the preacher, the teacher, and he's teaching us what he has learned as the wisest man to ever live. And he says that the overall idea, the key to life, a key to life well lived, is a life lived full of God. And so he's kind of going through the list of saying I tried all these different things and they didn't work. Well, now he's kind of going through the list of saying I tried all these different things and they didn't work. Well, now he's going to talk about going through times and seasons and he's going to talk to us still about, in times and seasons, god's still at work. We don't always see it, and so let's dive into this. If you have your Bibles Ecclesiastes 3, new Living Translation and let's see what God's word says to us today, this first part is probably going to be a little familiar if you've been around church or the Bible very much. You ready, here we go.

Verse 1 says this harvest a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build up, a time to cry and a time to laugh, a time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away, a time to search and a time to quit searching, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be quiet, a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. What do people really get for all their hard work? I have seen the burden God has placed on us all. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end. So I concluded that there is nothing better than to be happy and to enjoy ourselves as long as we can, and people should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from God, and I know that whatever God does is final. Nothing can be added to it or taken away from it. God's purpose is that people should fear him. What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again. That's so true, right. Let's finish up the chapter, verse 16.

I also noticed that under the sun there is evil in the courtroom. Yes, even the courts of law are corrupt. I said to myself, in due season, god will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds. I also thought about the human condition how God proves to people that they really are like animals. For people and animals share the same fate Both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless. Both go to the same place. They came from the dust and they'll return to the dust, which, by the way, if you've ever been at a funeral and you see where they say ashes to ashes, dust to dust, that's where it gets it from Verse 21,.

For who can prove that the human spirit goes up and the spirit of the animals go down to the earth? So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work and with their lot. There is our lot in life, that is our lot in life, I'm sorry, and no one can bring us back to see what happens after we die. So, in other words, what he's saying is is I've realized that, man, this life is hard and we all breathe the same air, we all do the things that we do, and so there's gotta be more to life than just focusing on this life. And that's of course the point is he's gonna eventually say the point of life is to trust and follow God. I wanna go back up to verse 11. Let's get ready to end our time, he says. Yet God made everything beautiful for its own time. He planted eternity in the human heart. But even so, don't forget the scripture, romans 8, 28. It says To remember that. He says everything is beautiful in its own time and I want to encourage you with that today.

Maybe you feel a little bit like the author of Ecclesiastes. You feel like Solomon, kind of a dark rain cloud kind of season for you, where you're looking at life and you're going. I don't see anything beautiful around me, pastor. Everything I see is a mess. If this was a painting, it'd be a Picasso. Right, it's just everything's just everywhere. But the reality is is that when you look at it under the right light, in the right circumstance, picassos are masterpieces. You just got to understand the author and understand what it is he's trying to do. And I think a lot of times in our life it can look like a mess, but under the right light and understanding the author and his intent, you go. You know what? I don't know if I would have chosen it like this or like that, but there's something beautiful there, and it's not always because of what we can see, but in the light of eternity, we will see. So I'm not at all saying that what you're going through right now is beautiful. What I am saying is, in the light of eternity, you will see that the great artist, the great painter of masterpieces, is actually making something beautiful with your life.

Our job is to trust him. We don't always know, and so I'm curious, down in the comments, what was your takeaway from this chapter? What was it that you saw that inspired you to trust God a little bit more? Try one more day to not give up and to trust the Lord that at the end, it's all about Him. Let's pray together right now. God, thank you so much for today. Thank you that you're with us in all things. I celebrate you, I celebrate God that you see more than we see. You know more than we know and, just like Solomon, we trust that everything is beautiful in its own way and in its own time. We thank you for that. Today, in Jesus' name, we pray Amen and amen. Well, ecclesiastes, chapter 12, verse 13,. Solomon finally ends it all and he says now here is my final conclusion Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone's duty to realize that a life well lived is a life that is focused its attention on God.
