The More We Dig. The More We Find.

Speaker 1:

Well, everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown podcast with your host, pastor Brandon, today, jeremiah, chapter 45, and today's title is Bring your Pain to God. Bring your pain to God. It really reminds me of something that happened that I saw one time, and I actually didn't see it, I experienced it with a friend of mine and it just, man, it gets me. It gets me because I'm so convicted by this chapter and we're going to get into all that in just a moment because misery loves company. But as we are doing that getting your Bibles open to Jeremiah, chapter 45, make sure you take a moment, if you're new around here, to like, share and subscribe to the YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure you leave us a five-star review on the podcast and make sure you're going to the Bible Breakdown Discussion on Facebook. They're doing an amazing job there and we would love for you to join us because I'm going to tell you something the more we dig, the more we find I got something a little different today. I would love for you to go to the Bible Breakdown Discussion or in the comments on the YouTube video today and let me know about a time when you turned to God in a difficult moment and what happened when you turned to God and God ministered to you, restored you. Did he do it through just a time of worship? Did he do it through a friend? Just give us a testimony of a time when God really moved in your life and during a time of pain, because I think it would be helpful for all of us. So if you have your Bibles, I want to open it up with me to Jeremiah, chapter 45. I knew a guy one time who he was having some pain in his body. I don't remember exactly where, it was a long time ago, but what I do remember is that he went to the doctor and when he went to the doctor he had some tests ran and they called him a couple of days later and they said hey, we ran some tests and we'd really like to see you come in rather than tell you over the phone, and it was a voicemail when they sent it. Well, that scared him half to death, and so he still had pain for another three months. He had pain for three months but he would not go back and see the doctor because he was terrified of what those tests were going to say and he just waited and waited and waited until that pain was not anymore. Uh, he couldn't handle it anymore and he finally went back to the doctor and just was expecting the worst. Just just give it to me, doctor. And when he went back to the doctor, the doctor said man, I've been waiting on you, where have you been? And the guy was honest and he said I didn't want to hear the results of my test. And he's like, the results of the test were nothing was wrong. And that's what I wanted to tell you is I needed to run this other test because nothing's wrong. And it turned out he had something that was extremely fixable, but he didn't know because he was afraid of what the doctor was going to say.

Speaker 1:

And in this chapter we're going to see how God wants us to bring him his pain. And sometimes we will not bring God our pain because, number one, it's a lot easier to turn to a friend, to turn to social media or just to numb ourselves with different things that create brokenness in our life. But then also, we don't want to turn to God because we've got other things we think God might want to talk to us about and we don't really want to do that. But there's nothing better than to turn to God and to never be afraid of what he's going to say, because we might be really surprised at what he's going to say if we can have the courage to turn to God. Let's read this together and let's see what God's word will say to us.

Speaker 1:

Jeremiah, chapter 45, verse 1, says this, and this is a message for Baruch. The prophet Jeremiah gave a message to Baruch, the son of Neriah, in the fourth year of the reign of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, after Baruch had written down everything Jeremiah had dictated to him. He said this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to you, baruch. You have said I am overwhelmed with trouble, haven't I had enough pain already, and now the Lord has added more? I am worn out from sighing and can find no rest. Baruch, this is what the Lord says I will destroy the nation I built and I will uproot what I planted. Are you seeking great things for yourself? Don't do that. I will bring great disaster upon these people, but I will give you your life as a reward wherever you go. I, the Lord, have spoken.

Speaker 1:

Wow, we forget about the fact that Jeremiah is writing all of these warnings and prophecies of disaster, but he's writing them through the pen of Baruch. And so Baruch is hearing all of this and this is his nation, just like it is Jeremiah's and so it's tearing him up so very bad. And he is just brokenhearted about what's going to happen. And he is also saying I am worn out myself because of all this. And it's like he's afraid because God has been speaking all of this negativity, all of this judgment. So it's almost like he's afraid. God, what are you going to do with me? Am I going to be part of this too? But when he returned to God, god said no, I have a reward for you. It's going to be okay.

Speaker 1:

I love the idea that Baruch was able to return to God and just be honest and just say God, I'm worn out. I am worn out from all of this sighing. I can't find any rest. Do you know? God wants us to bring our pain to him, and we might be surprised to find out what he says. And you might be surprised to find out what he says, because, if you notice, what God said to Baruch was hey, listen, I am going to do what I said I was going to do to these nations. I am, but not you. I've got good news for you.

Speaker 1:

Many times, I wonder how often we go through more pain than is necessary because we don't turn to God, because we're afraid of a lie the enemy's put in our head. We're afraid that God will reject us. We're afraid that God doesn't love us anymore. We're afraid of whatever lie the enemy wants. And the whole time, all God wants is for us to turn to him, and God may say yes, you're going to have to walk through this difficulty. This is going to happen, but I'm going to give you your life as a reward wherever you go. In other words, I'm going to go with you. Yes, you're going to have to walk through this difficult valley for a season, but I'm going to be with you. I'm going to be there every step of the way. I'm going to bring you joy that you didn't expect. I'm going to open doors that you had no idea I could even open. I'm going to be with you. So I want to ask you this question Is there anything that you are holding back from telling God?

Speaker 1:

Maybe it's a frustration that you have, maybe it's a question, maybe it's the question, the why? Question God why didn't you? Why wouldn't you? How could you? Didn't you? Why wouldn't you? How could you? Where were you? Do you know God's not intimidated by those questions?

Speaker 1:

As a matter of fact, I wonder if sometimes he longs for us to ask those questions because he's got some real good answers and sometimes the answers may not be what we want. But maybe we ask why, where, when, how? Sometimes God will give us answers through his word or through relationships where God will create some kind of divine appointments that we didn't realize. But then also there are times when God will not give us the answer we want, but instead he'll say you can trust me God. Why you can trust me God? Where you can trust me God? When will you? You can trust me, I will be with you every step of the way.

Speaker 1:

Is there a question? Is there a thing that you need to say to God today? Well, I want to encourage you. At some point today, maybe as soon as we're finished with this podcast or some other time, take a moment and get honest with God and watch what happens. Let's pray together right now. God, thank you so much for today. Thank you that you're with us and you're for us. I pray today, god, that you will bring to the surface, maybe some questions that we've had for you for a long time, some fears, some concerns. And as we bring it to you, I pray that you, holy Spirit, will speak to every heart your comforting word. Today, in Jesus' name, we pray, amen, amen. Well, god's word says in Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 13,. You will look for me. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow. For Jeremiah, chapter 46.
