What if surrender didn’t shrink your life but finally set it right? We open Zechariah 10 and step into a sweeping promise: when the true King arrives, empty counsel fades, scattered people come home, and ordinary hearts become strong. The passage breaks the spell of false comfort—household gods, fortune tellers, and dreams that flatter but can’t heal—and replaces it with the clear, grounded hope of God’s active leadership.

Together we walk through the text and trace three anchors Zechariah gives us for a stable life: God as the cornerstone that holds everything true, the tent peg that secures our belonging, and the battle bow that equips us for real conflict. This isn’t abstract spirituality. It’s the practical exchange many of us avoid: God asks for what we can’t keep—guilt, shame, fear, addiction—and He gives what we can’t produce on our own—peace, joy, patience, and strength. We talk about why trust feels risky, what it looks like to “ask for rain” from the One who actually sends it, and how surrender turns into multi-generational renewal that our children can see and celebrate.

If you’re weary of surface fixes and hungry for a deep reset, this chapter offers a path. We explore how God regathers the scattered, dries up the waters that block the way, and leads His people with authority so they can move freely and wisely. By the end, you’ll have a clearer vision of what it means to let Jesus be King over your decisions, patterns, and future—and why that leadership brings the strength you’ve been missing.

Listen now, share it with someone who needs courage, and if this resonates, subscribe and leave a review. Your support helps more people find teaching that brings clarity, hope, and practical steps toward a stronger faith.

Well, hello everybody. Welcome back to the Bible Breakdown Podcast with your host, Pastor Brandon. Today, Zechariah chapter 10. And today's title is Now That He is Here. Now That He Is Here. What's been going on over the past several chapters is God is saying, come home, come home, come home. And then after they get, they get back home, he's saying, I'm gonna come home to you. I'm gonna come home to you. Well, now what? Now that the king is here, what is his bidding? What is he going to do? We're gonna find out today. The king is not here to play. Okay, that's what it is. And we're gonna jump into that in just a moment. So you have your Bibles, want to jump in with me, Zechariah chapter 10. While we're doing that, make sure you take just a moment, like, share, subscribe to the YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure you leave us a five-star review on the podcast. It really does help. And make sure you're going to the Bible breakdown discussion on Facebook. There's an amazing group of people doing a wonderful job. And as always, you can get access to all of that at the Biblebreakdown.com. Well, if you've been with us over the past several days, we've been walking through Zechariah, where God is encouraging the people of Zechariah, of Zechariah's time. They feel like they've been forgotten, like they've been left behind. God is telling them over and over again, no, no, I got you. God will return if you will return back to him. And that's been the whole focus. And over the past few chapters, God has really been doubling down on that. He's saying, Come on home, come on home. And then he says, and I'm coming home to you too. Like I'm I'm my hands already out, but I'm coming. And then yesterday it was crowning the king. And then today it's like, okay, well, now that the king is here, what's he gonna do? Spoiler alert, he's gonna clean up is what exactly what he's gonna do. So if you're ready, we're gonna jump into Zechariah chapter 10, verse 1 says this Ask the Lord for rain in the spring, for he makes the storm clouds, and he will send showers of rain, so every field becomes lush pasture. Household gods give worthless advice. Fortune tellers predict only lies, and the interpreters of dreams pronounce falsehoods and give no comfort. So my people are wandering like lost sheep. They are attacked because they have no shepherd. My anger burns against your shepherds, and I will punish these leaders. For the Lord of Heaven's armies has arrived to look after Judah, his flock. He will make them strong and glorious, like proud war horses in battle. From Judah will come the cornerstone, the tent peg, the bow for battle, and all the rulers. They will be like mighty warriors in battle, trampling their enemies in the mud under their feet. Since the Lord is with them as they fight, they will overthrow even the enemy's horsemen. I will strengthen Judah and save Israel. I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never been rejected, or never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God who hears their cries. The people of Israel will become like mighty warriors, and their hearts will be made happy as if by wine. Their children too will see it and be glad. Their hearts will rejoice in the Lord. When I whistle to them, they will come running, for I have redeemed them. From the few who are left they will grow as numerous as they were before, and though I have scattered them like seeds among nations, they will still remember me in distant lands. And they and their children will survive and return again to Israel. I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will resettle them in Gilead and Lebanon until there is no more room for them all. They will pass safely through the sea of distress, for the ways of the sea will be held back, and the waters of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be crushed, and the rule of Egypt will end. But by my power I will make my people strong, and by my authority they will go wherever they wish. I, the Lord, have spoken. Wow. It's this idea of when the king comes, he sets everything right. And that's important because I've known people before who have said, if I turn my life over to God, if I truly give God everything, what will he do? Like what will he take? And it's this idea of you know, there's at least one one sin, one addiction, one, one thing that that one's personal. Like I don't mind giving you this and I don't mind giving you that, but God wants everything. Like everything. What do I get in return? Well, the idea is salvation is kind of hard to beat. You know, eternal home in heaven, don't go to hell, that that's great. But what we don't understand is, is what God asks us for, we can't keep anyway. God asks us for our rejection, our addiction, our shame, our guilt, our fear, our sins, all of these negative things, all of all the things, and he gives us life, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, patience, self-control. He gives us all these things, but we gotta turn everything over to him and to trust that when the king comes, when he shows up, he brings his goodness with him. Can I tell you? If you've ever wondered, well, if I go all in for God, if I give him everything I have, what what will be left? Like I'm I'm afraid of going all in for God. I'm afraid of of giving my addictions and my my my everything. I I I don't know. I'm I'm I don't want to be taken advantage of. Can I tell you? You're never more at peace than when you're in the very middle of God's hands. He is trustworthy. And just like we read today, when you give everything over to God, he brings you victory. You didn't even know you needed. But you gotta go all in. You gotta give it all to him. You gotta let him be the king. Let him be the ruler, not me. Not not your best friend, not your great uncle, not the king. Jesus is the king. And we make him the king of our lives. Watch what happens. Let's pray together right now. God, thank you so much for today. Thank you, God, that you are the king. That you are holy. You're in control. Lord, we give you everything we have. Oh, there's so many things in this world we don't understand. But the one thing we do understand is that we want you to be in control. We want you to lead. And as you lead, we trust that you are taking us where we need to be. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Anyway, God's Word says in Zechariah 1, verse 3, return to me, and I will return to you. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow for Zechariah chapter eleven.
