The Bible Breakdown: Daily Bible Reading
Psalm 08: Everything Declares God’s Glory
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
The world hasn’t gotten darker, you might just be seeing it blurry. Psalm 8 is David at his most awake, staring at the night sky and realizing the obvious thing he somehow missed: God’s glory is everywhere, and God’s name is majestic across the whole earth. We walk through the full passage in the New Living Translation and let its images do what they were meant to do, pull our attention away from the nonstop noise and back toward worship.
We talk about what it feels like to “put on glasses” spiritually, when you suddenly notice beauty that was there the whole time. From stars and moonlight to fish in the sea and the simple fact that you can breathe and think and feel, creation is constantly testifying. Psalm 8 also gives language for identity and purpose: we’re small compared to the universe, yet deeply cared for, honored by God, and entrusted with responsibility. That tension creates humility without hopelessness and meaning without ego.
Then we make it practical with a gratitude challenge you can do today. Take a few minutes and say out loud or write down as many blessings as you can that you forget most days. It’s not pretending life is easy; it’s remembering that bad things are happening, but that’s not all that’s happening. If this daily Bible study and Psalm breakdown helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a five-star review so more people can find it.

Psalm 8 Theme And The Glasses Story
SPEAKER_01Well, everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown Podcast with your host, Pastor Brandon. Today, Psalm chapter 8, and today's title is Everything Declares God's Glory. Everything declares God's glory. I don't know if you've ever done this before, but have you ever been around somebody who they their eyesight is starting to go bad, but they don't want to go get glasses? You know, they just keep on because for some reason in their mind, they think if they get glasses, they like cross some kind of line or something. I don't know. And then they finally go get them. And if you ever watch them when they put them on for the first time and they're just like, well, there's a lot of stuff here I didn't see before. I mean, I didn't know the world was not this blurry. I how did you see like this all the time? You know, it reminds me of the same thing of people who are colorblind who will go and put on those glasses that will help them see colors. It's like they have been seeing the world, but they haven't been seeing the world. You know, it's all new. Well, that's what I think about when I think about this chapter today, this song, because it's almost as if David is just looking at the world in a way that he's never looked at it before. And he is saying, Oh, Lord, how majestic is your name. Look, look at the good stuff you have done around here. It's like he's never seen it before. So we're gonna get it all in in just a second. So if you get ready, get your Bibles out, go reading in the New Living Translation, get your Bible journals out, get your coffee out. We're gonna be having a good time today. Also, make sure you take just a moment, like, share it, subscribe to the YouTube channel and the podcast. Make sure you leave us a five-star review on the podcast. It really does help. And make sure you're going to the Bible breakdown discussion on Facebook. That's an amazing group of people doing a wonderful job over there every single day. You can get links to all of that at thebibelbreakdown.com because the more we dig, the more we find. Well, once again, we are making a wonderful journey through the entire book of Psalms, and it is actually a collection of the greatest songs of the people of God. That's why we're calling it a soundtrack for life, because the book of Psalms teaches us how to relate to God. These are the songs that teach us how to express what's going on. Just like if you think about the greatest songs in history, the ones that have sold the most, you know, albums and all this kind of stuff, they usually are telling a story. They're reminiscing about something. There's a certain vibe that creates nostalgia, it expresses something. It's that that's why we love these songs that we call our favorites. Well, it's the same thing about the book of Psalms, that the Holy Spirit inspired these, because they help us to know how to talk to God. And this is one of those that I love so much. I would love to have been around David when he writes this song because he literally, it's though he'd not really noticed the world. And I don't know if you've ever been like that before. We we talked about glasses and we talked about the other colorblind glasses and all that. But have you ever been going through a season that is just so difficult and it's just so all-encompassing, right? You just all you can do is focus on that. Like you're going through school or you're going through something, and then all of a sudden it's over with, and you take a breath of fresh air for the first time. Well, that's almost like what we see with David when he is looking around at all God has made. So let's look at this together and read where he is talking about the majestic name of God. Here
Reading Psalm 8 In Full
SPEAKER_01we go. Psalm 8, verse 1 says this O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth. Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers, the moon, the stars you set in place, what are mere mortals that you think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority, the flocks and herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky and the fish of the sea and everything that swims the ocean currents. Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic your name fills the earth. Wow.
Awe At Creation And Human Worth
SPEAKER_01So Paul, Paul, David, is looking up at the sky and he's saying, Man, God, look at the stars that you have made. And he looks at the water, he says, Look at the fish that you've made. He's everywhere he's like, God made all of this. And then out of all of this, you called us, your children, you created us, even though we are we are not you, we are lower than you, yet you have given us the ability to interact with all these different things. Thank you, God. And if you think about it, what are some of the things in your life that you unintentionally take for granted? Like today, if you can see, and it's before sunset, I would encourage you to go out and just look at a beautiful sunset. Like, so I deal with, you know, being like mostly colorblind. I can't see all the colors. And so what I do see, though, I think is beautiful. I can't imagine for some of you who can see all of them, I just how wonderful that is. And it is an amazing thing that God fills us with all of this beauty. The very heartbeat that we have, the the fact that we we have our five senses, everything there is just miracles everywhere. But the problem is, is we get so busy trying to make a life that we forget that life is happening right now. We forget that God's glory is all around us right now.
Homework: Write Down Gratitudes
SPEAKER_01So here's my homework for you today, because remember, the book of Psalms teaches us how to relate to God. What if today, when you finish listening to this podcast or watching this as a YouTube video, what if you took just a few minutes and either said out loud or wrote down a piece of paper as many things as you can that you should be thankful for that you forget most days? Like look around. And if you you have a cup of coffee, thankful for that. If you have your pen, if you have a phone you can look at, thankful for that. Just start being thankful. And here's what's going to happen: the more you look for things, the more you're gonna find them. And you start looking around and going, God, there's blessings everywhere. And once again, that doesn't mean that you don't have problems. It doesn't mean you don't have things that's difficult in your life and trying to figure out. It's just important to realize that yes, bad things are happening, but that's not all that's happening. If there's good things all around, and that God is worthy of praise for every single one of
Prayer For Noticing God’s Wonders
SPEAKER_01them. Let's pray together right now. God, thank you so much for today. Thank you, God, that you're with us and you're for us. Lord, I'm so thankful that there are a million little miracles all around us. I pray today, God, you will help us to recognize so many of them and that it will take our breath away at how many wonders surround us, even right now in this moment. We thank you for that today. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen.
Closing Verse And Tomorrow’s Psalm
SPEAKER_01Well, God's word says in Psalm 34, verse 1, say it with me. I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. There's always a new reason to give God praise. I love you. I'll see you tomorrow for Psalm chapter nine.
