Well, everybody, welcome back to the Bible Breakdown Podcast with your host, Pastor Brandon. Today, Psalm 25, and today's title is A Prayer of Dedication. A prayer of dedication. One of the things I love about the book of Psalms is there are so many recurring themes that I think are so common to all of us. Today we have another chapter where David is just rededicating his life back to God and just saying, God, you're gonna have to direct me because I don't know where I'm going. I got bad people doing bad things for bad reasons. I need some direction. So I'm I'm dedicating my life over to you all over again. And it's not like a point of salvation, it's just reminding himself by reminding God, I'm following you. Please don't lead me off a cliff. You know what I mean? So if you've ever felt like that before, if you ever felt like you just came to God to say, God, I just want to remind you that I'm following you. of how to relate to God, how to relate to God in good times, bad times, everything in between. As I was telling you before on an earlier podcast, they even have songs about road trips, how to take road trips with God. I mean, they got they got everything, right? Well, there's a lot of these also that have recurring themes because I think they're recurring themes in our life. Like if there's recurring themes of joy, of celebration, recurring themes of sadness, recurring themes of forgiveness and loss. And then there is this recurring theme of today of God, I need your direction. I'm dedicating my life to you. Please don't leave me off a cliff because I got bad people on this side, I got bad people on that side. I'm trying to follow you. I need your direction. So I'm rededicating myself to following you. Please don't lead me off a cliff. And so if you've ever felt that way, there's several chapters in the Bible where David is just saying that again. And I think that's important because in the life that David would have lived, there would have been so many opportunities for him to have said, Hey, I don't know. I don't know if this is the right way or not. I'm just dedicating my life to God. He is my true North. And so let's read this together and see if we can feel some of this as well. There's been times when we have just gone back to God and said, Okay, God, I'm trusting you. And here we go. So here we go. Verse 25, or chapter 25, verse 1 says this, O Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God. Don't let me be disgraced, or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat. No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced, but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others. Show me the right path, O Lord. Point out the road for me to follow. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord. The Lord is good and does what is right. He shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his defense and his demands. For the honor of your name, O Lord, forgive my many, many sins. For uh who are those who are those who fear the Lord? He will show them the path they should choose, and they will live in prosperity, and their children will inherit the land. The Lord is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. My eyes are always on the Lord, for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone in deep distress. My problems go from bad to worse. Oh save me from all of them. Feel my pain, feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. See how my enemies, how many enemies I have, and how vicious they hate me. Protect me. Rescue my life from them. Do not let me be disgraced, for in you I take refuge. May integrity and honesty protect me. I put my hope in you. O God, ransom Israel from all its troubles.

Honesty, Repentance, And True North

So what David is doing is he's teaching us how to relate to God by saying, number one, be honest. Be honest and say, God, I have not always followed your direction. God, I'm not there yet. I haven't figured it all out. Sometimes you tell me to go left and I go right. I really do. I I don't want to, but I do. When it comes down to it, and I really should take the right turn, I take the left turn sometimes. So I'm being honest about it, but I don't want to. I need you. I've got issues, I've got troubles, I've got enemies, but I've also got my God and I'm praying for your direction. That's what the Lord tells us to do. When we are in need of his direction, we come to him. We don't run, we don't hide, we admit I've made mistakes. That's why I'm coming back to you. It's because I know they don't work. I know that only you satisfy. And when we do that, God leads us. So we we pray for direction, we pray for dedication, we dedicate ourselves back over to him again. We admit what we did, we follow him, and we trust him to lead us in the right

direction. Let's pray together right now. God, thank you so much for today. Thank you, God, that you do lead us in the right direction. And Lord, even when we sometimes make the wrong turn, you don't give up on us. You bring us back to you over and over again. Father, I love that this is your word, which helps us to realize that you already know what we've done, and it's you that are leading us to turn back to you. You know us, yet you love us. And I'm thankful for you today. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. And amen. Well, God's word says in Psalm 34, verse 1, say it with me, I will bless the Lord at all times.
